Bethanne's Story
Life
Quite a lot has happened since I left good old Washington High School. After graduating and completing business school, I was married to a person I met at the business school. We were married for 13 years (together for 10) and I had 2 children, Jamie and Ben. I met my present spouse (John Jacobson) through a Parents Without Partners Meeting, and my life has never been the same since. We were married in 1982 at which time I acquired to additional children, Soren and Mark. I returned to school to obtain my bachelors degree in Economics at Washington and Jefferson College, graduating in 1985. I worked as an accountant and did some teaching, but in 1988, we opened a winery in Washington which became my full time job. We sold it several years later after taking a short sabbatical to Arkansas. I worked for several years in the mental health field and continued, over the years, to get my Masters in Rehabilitation Counseling (199...Expand for more
2). Finally, I completed my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology in 2002. My family has grown to include 7 grandchildren. They are scattered all over the country from Texas to Connecticut to Maryland. Tragically, my stepson Mark was killed in January of 2002 in a skiing accident. With the kids grown and out on their own, my spouse has semi retired and we are now living in New Bern, North Carolina. I am in private practice working primarily with adult women. My spouse owns a kayak outfitting shop on the water. North Carolina is a wonderful place to live and we love being by the water. In addition to starting my work as a psychologist, I spend my free time kayaking, sailing, and just enjoying life on the water. Since my mother has passed away, I doubt that I'll get back to Washington very often even though my brother still lives there. I now call New Bern my home...love the people, the laid back life style, and best of all NO SNOW!.
