She is married to Tom Peyton (formerly of Dolly Madison Junior High School - where they met in the 7th grade - and TJ Junior High School for the 9th grade). After graduating from Wakefield, attended the Washington School for Secretaries. Shortly afterwards, she married a Wakefield classmate and they lived in Shreveport, LA, where he was stationed with the USAF. There they had their two daughters, Mollie and Beth. When his time to serve was up, returned to Arlington, VA, and during that time, had their son, Chip. From there they headed for Manassas, VA, where they remained until they moved to Blacksburg, VA, so that he could be a full time student in Electrical Engineering. Betsy worked for the VPI Alumni Association as a student wife. They parted ways after he graduated, and Betsy attended a year of studies at Radford College. m changed majors and graduated from California State University, Fresno. Betsy attended Fresno City College and worked, while Tom was a part time California State Ranger at Lake Millerton. They returned to Monterey after graduation, where Tom was Park Ranger at Veteran's Memorial Park and Betsy was Office Manager for civil engineers, and continued attending night school at Hartnell College and Monterey Peninsula College. The children were in their teens, so they returned to northern Virginia, where they began their federal government careers, Tom with NPS and Betsy bureau hopping around the Department of the Interior, BLM, NPS, and retiring from the Office of Surface Mining in 1997. During those years, Betsy decided to give up night school and graduated from NVCC. Tom retired from the NPS in 2000, and we headed for Bonners Ferry, ID, just south of the Canadian border, where we currently reside. Our children and four grandchildren are scattered, but we keep in close touch with them. It is a credit to Wakefield that so many in our class of '58 are so accomplished. Congratulations to each of you.
