Bette's Story
I attended the U of W for two years and dropped out after I broke my leg skiing. I spent a few years in Spokane as my Dad was transfered with the phone co. I then married Dennis King and started a family in Seattle. I lost him and our son in 1975, in a plane crash.
I worked as a bookkeeper for an auto dealer, home builder and later in several bowling centers, Lake City Bowl and Village Lanes, and yes, I did bowl too.
I married Bill McGrath in 1982 and took up golf. It was either that or be a golf widow. I even have 2 hole -in-ones. We bought a winter home in Yuma, AZ., across the street from a golf course, sold my...Expand for more
house in Lake Forest Park and bought a Townhouse in Everett, Wa. retired in 1998. We would spend 7 months in Yuma and 5 months in Everett, however I lost him in 2005, but I still spend the winters in Yuma, still playing golf, and the summers in Everett.
After I lost Bill, it took me 15 years to finally realize how much money I was blowing by only returning to Everett for 4 or 5 months each year. So I took the plunge and sold my Townhouse this past September, 2020, and am now living full time in Yuma. Guess I will have to get used to the hot summers and forget how cool the summer weather is in the Pacific Northwest.
