Bette's Story
Life
I haven't seen any of my old classmates since moving to San Carlos, CA with my parents in 1969. I was in a serious relationship at the time but that ended after he came back from Vietnam. In 1971 I met my husband Richard McDonnell on a blind date and three months later we were married. We spent 30 years living in Gardnerville, NV and moved back to IL in 2003. We now live in Roscoe, IL, just north of Rockford.
I retired from the Nevada State Health Division in 1995 where I was a Data Processing Supervisor. s of Rockford are just a few miles away.
Rich and I never had children but we've always had pets. We have two dogs at this time, both of unknown origins. In other words...mixed breeds. Katie is a terrier mix and I always say she's the daughter I never had. My father always called her the kissing bandit. She's a little love and so full of energy I can hardly keep up. Chance is a big dog; shepperd, husky, Australian shepperd etc., and he's basically a couch potato. They're both very good watch dogs and I never worry about being alone when Rich travels. Life would be incomplete without our "kids".
I spend a lot of my time painting. Some of you may remember that art was always my favorite class. Right now I'm doing decorative painting on furniture but any flat surface will do. Just for fun, I'm going to see if I can sell some of my pieces on ebay.
