Betty's Story
I am RETIRED!! I have 4 grown children, and now 4 grandkids. I love going to the pool! I enjoy time with my kids and grandkids, and am so glad to not be working! I have been in Arizona most of the time since high school. I have fond memories of my senior year at Grant Union. It was an experience. I hope to connect with any friends who remember me from that time. Betty
Leaving Phoenix Union after my junior year was really traumatic though. I was so mad at my Mom cause we were moving. I had a boyfriend I was soooo in love with, even though he went to South Mountain High,, I wasn't happy. I ended up engaged to him my senior year, so I maybe blew a chance with a great guy in John Day on the football team. Ha! I was only there my senior year, so not sure how many people
really remember me?
My birthday this year reached 72! I am still 15 though. Of course, I think that is why I have so much fun with my grandkids, I have good friends that I have known for many years, and feel very lucky to retain friendships long term in my life.
I have a good happy life, and a happy outlook on my world. I have never regretted my move
to Sun City Az. The covid 19 scare seems to have calmed and today I get my 2nd Covid Booster to be sure! I ended up with a reverse right shoulder, and a partial left hip replacement over the last year, and now am ready to restart it all in 2022..I now know I will be looking forward to a complete left shoulder replacement in about 3 years too, after I went to my one year check up for my right shoulder surgery. HA Oh well./ I MISSED going to the pool, and missed seeing my friends every day. So, I am getting back to my life in 2022!!! I have now been back to the pool and love it. Good to see my friends again,, and catch up on all the local gossip. HA! I am a New York Rockette in the pool it is so fun, I use water weights, and do high kicks! I feel so much better with my pool exercises. Gyms and what I used to love DANCING are no longer options for me. So the pool in my sunshine is the best life for me.
Also, I am now our Condominium Board President. It does involve time and dedication, and I am lucky to work with the smartest woman as the COA Board Secretary! She has all the knowledge...Expand for more
I don't have! She says we both bring our own strengths to the offices. She is younger. and so is our Vice-President. We make a good group and have fun too,
My three sons are now 53, 52, and 41 years old! My oldest and youngest sons have gray, but full heads of hair! My middle son has more color in his hair, but lots of hair too. At my present height of 5'1'' (I have now shrunk 5 inches in my height cause of my back issues) they all tower over me! Only one is an inch shorter than 6 feet. My oldest is over 6'5'' !! Tall men are common in our family. So I look up a lot! HAHA!
My daughter is 42 and not as tall. Mom was my hardest job, but so very rewarding now. All four of my kids seem to have jobs with skills that I benefit from. I am blessed. One is TECH guy, One owns Construction company, One is mechanical, One is law enforcement, and all 4 are military veterans from two wars. Somehow although tough times happened, they have all worked hard and are people I am very proud of. The Dad's were not so much in the picture, and I tell my kids I was flying by the seat of my pants and did NOT know what to do as a Mom. I was a Mom at 19. So Young!!! But, I tell them they seemed to pick up where I left off and raised themselves the rest of the way! It is obvious I LOVE my 4 kids!
Grandkids are getting older too. My oldest grandson is 20! My oldest granddaughter is 15 and in September gets her drivers license at 16! My second granddaughter is 14 in November right before I turn 73! My youngest granddaughter is 12. I have been blessed to watch them grow up, and figure I will probably be here many more years to see them all get old! I have been divorced more of my life than married-even though I did marry 3 times. OK one guy I married twice. HAHA! I have probably been happier single as I like to make my own decisions and am a strong person. I have memories of my whole life, and think never forgetting your past helps you to grow up easier as you age. YES!!
And, this is only the middle of this book!! Betty
So I am looking forward to a fun Pool Summer in Sun City, Az with my friends!
Enjoyable times with my wonderful family, and will continue working as our COA Board President.
