Betty's Story

Married Tom Trout,1947 after he came home from the service. He graduated from Pitt in 1955,went to work for G.E.,went thru their Advanced Engineering Program for 3 years and then was located at Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory.Tom was a nuclear physicist. We lived in Schenectady, NY for 20 years. We have 5 children. Tom died in July,1973. I started working at Ellis Hospital in 1962 as Director of the Day Hospital in the psychiatric clinic. Worked there until 1974. Met Jack(Dusty)Fowlkes and married in 1978.Dusty had a company called Value Analysis with subsidiaries in many countries. We moved to Hilton Head Island,SC in 1978.Dusty had 5 children also who, like mine, were mostly grown up,married or in college. Dusty retired in '89 and because we both loved jazz,we traveled and cruised alot to hear our favorite players.Dusty died in Oct.2007.So, at this point,I have 10 children,15 grandchildren and 14 great grand.kids. I'm blessed with 3 of my kids living here on the Island. And,that's the story of my life! The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Bob Nelson, because he became my hero when I was 11. If I won $100 million, I'd give most of it to Rotary, then spend the rest on having fun with my family, we'd travel and see the world.. My current age is 88. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be handicapped in some way. I was so completely wrong. Wanted to be the best Mom I could be always. Also the most compentent at my job as Director. My best friend would tell you I'm a good friend, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as friendly. Pretty much.Prefer talored clothing as a rule but like fancy dress clothes. I live alone in my condo at TidePointe, a VI community. It's like a 5...Expand for more
star hotel with entertainment. 3 of my kids are within 15 to 30 minutes away. Brother, David Dorsner is a Dr., lives near by with his wife ,Laurie. Had a hole-in-one and an eagle in the same year, long time ago. In 10 years, I hope to be alive. I'm going to get there by taking better care of myself. I've had great friends all my life. We clicked because our value systems were mostly alike. My first job was at Pennies, where I got paid ???? to sell clothing. What I remember most about it is the many things about fabrics and style and how much I enjoyed working with people. Drinking eldeberry wine when I was 4 years old getting drunk and sick and sleeping for 18 hours,so I'm told. Music Many heros. Inspiration comes from Music. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Bob Nelson, he taught me how to dance. Music The depth of my love for them If I won $100 million, I'd give most of it to Rotary, then spend the rest on having fun with all my kids, traveling and paying someone to pay the bills. My best friend would tell you I'm loyal, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as friendly. Yes.My weight hasn't changed too much so I still wear rmany of my old clothes. Mostly taylored but I dress for parties, etc. I have many old friends. Met them at work,my neighborhood, group meetings and clubs. We clicked because of similar values. My first job was at Penny's, where I got paid ???? to clerk. What I remember most about it is what I learned about fashion and quality of fabrics.. I Music Many heros. Inspiration comes from a good attitude which I guess came from my Mom The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Bob Nelson, because he was a friend who taught me to dance.
