Betty's Story
Betty is from Freehold, New Jersey. Betty's schools include Freehold Township High School. Betty later graduated from Georgian Court University. Betty now lives in Cape Coral, FL. She taught school for 20+ years and wrote several grants that were instrumental in developing programs for at-risk children and young adults with special needs. She is married to Bill Henderson who is also a teacher. They will be celebrating their 36th wedding anniversary in July. She and Bill have four children and three grandchildren. ry, Hallelujah Baby was recently published in Chicken Soup for the Adopted Soul. Betty's most recent book, Caught in the Land of Un, outlines the struggles a family faces when dealing with a brain injured child. That book is written under her pen name, Gwen Thorne. Caught in the Land of Un is available on Amazon. Betty and her family have appeared on Oprah when they were caring for a child who was an acid burn victim from Bangladesh.
