Life My Spouse After high school I was hired immediately as a Clerk Typist for what was then Edgewood Arsenal, MD, Chemical Systems Laboratory. My future husband, James H. Manthei, had been drafted into the Army after college and assigned to the Edgewood Arsenal's Chemical Systems Laboratory as a toxicologist and biologist. He was one of my co-workers. My Kids My first child, Elizabeth Dawn (Manthei) Aquino was born 31 May 1968. She graduated from Joppatowne High School in 1986 and attended college. She was married to Robert X. Aquino on 26 October 1990. In 1994 they had a daughter, Brittany Elizabeth Aquino (this is our one and only grandchild at this time). Liz worked for a year at Edgewood Area of the Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD in the Chemical Support Division. She then accepted a job with Otis Elevator Company in 1989 and is now a Sales Representative for Otis Elevator. Liz and her husband, Robert, and daughter, Brittany, live in Bel Air, Maryland. Our son, Michael James Manthei, was born on 27 June 1969. He graduated from Joppatowne High School in 1987. He attended college and started his career in the handling of chemicals at the Chemical Support Division of the Edgewood Area of Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD in 1984 when he was only a sophmore in high school as a summer hire in the "Scientific and Engineering Fellowship Apprenticeship Program". He continued to work during his summers while in high school. During college he worked in the same area as a contractor. In 1989 he was hired into a permanent DOD Civilian Postion. He continues to work in the field of chemicals in the Chemical Support Division and travels extensively aboard and within the U.S. for the U.S. Army.
