Betty's Story
Life
Unfortunately my senior year photo was not in the year book for class of 1968.
I should've been before David Harris and Pam Harris. The photo studio didn't send my photo to the school. (you know I cried)
I was in the Girls Glee Club 7th - 9th grade at Whittier.
I was in the 3 yr Commercial Foods Class where we made the lunch for the administrators and school lunches. I really liked the class because we had students from all the local high schools in our class.
I worked for the Parks & Recreation Dept until 1979 at various playgrounds, Berston Fieldhouse and the Kennedy Center Swimming Pool.
I married my high school sweetheart Delmar Cannon in 1968 and we had a daughter in 1969. He was my Sr Prom date. We later divorced in 1972.
My 2nd husband was Jesse Scott Jr. We were married until 1979 and had a son Jesse Scott III that was killed at 17 years old in Tulsa, Oklahoma 1994.
I've lived in Oklahoma since 1979 and I'm single again! I have a disability retirement from the U.S. Postal Service as a 12 year lettercarrier.
My daughter lives in Indiana, my oldest son is in Oklahoma and my 19 year old grandson is in Job Corp. My Mother lives 1 house away and we spend alot of time together.

husband of 7 years was also the Pastor of the church I belong to now.
I stayed at the church and I'm the church clerk/secretary. We have a new Pastor now.
I hear from classmates that I've seen over the years when I go home to visit Flint.
My Dad, Step-Mom, 2 sisters, 1 brother, nephews, lots of cousins, aunts & uncles etc.. are still in Michigan. I have 1 sister that lives in Texas and 1 brother that lives in Delaware.
I try to visit Family in Flint at least once a year.
I grew up in the St. John Street area and off Lapeer St on the southside. I'm related to the Hudson, Howard,Taylor,Starks & Harriford families.
I'd LOVE to hear from anyone that remembers me from school or times in Flint!
College
I went to Mott Community College for 2 semesters working on a social work aide program. I had to drop out because of dealing with raising kids,demanding husband, etc....
I miss working in the athletics office - all those sweaty guys playing basketball! Loved playing pool & bid whist in the student union.
Had to have my grilled ham & cheese sandwich with chocolate cake & milk!
I went to Victory Bible Institute in Tulsa, Oklahoma for about 6 months.
This really helped me deal with the lost of my youngest son.
