I have lived in Calif. since 1973, and in Santa Barbara since 1984. After Sunset I went to Lewis and Clark for a year, and then spent 3 years at Portland State. I graduated with an English major and a Secondary Education certificate. I taught 2 years in Oregon, one in Hillsboro, and one in Portland, then answered an ad by a school district near Sydney, Australia. I spent most of a year teaching in Sydney, then went to New Guinea for the last months of the year.New Guinea was my favorite place to teach because the kids were so interested in everything that was offered them, and the location on a tropical island with simple villages was so amazing. While in Australia, I heard about teaching in Japan. At the end of the year in Australia/ New Guinea, I went to Tokyo, and worked for several English language schools, teaching conversational English to all ages of students.
