Beverly's Story

I attended Laurinburg Institute from 1963-67. I graduated with Shellie Hayes, Bernice Tindal, Levester Flowers, Bo Whitaker, DT and Pinky just to name a few. I moved to DC from NC my second year at Laurinburg. Attended DC Teachers College in DC and began teaching in '72 at Harriet Tubman Elementary School. Retired in June '08 and have been enjoying retirement everyday. I get together with San and Phyl Stewart often. Also,I've recently talked with Shel Hayes. Saw Bishop back in March ...Expand for more
in Myrtle Beach. I talk with him every now and then and I see him when he comes to DC. Presently I am babysitting Bernice's one year old grandson four days a week. We attend the same church. Shelley Jones used to attend the same church some years ago. During my retirement I am continuing to work with National Geographic as a teacher consultant and I volunteered briefly for the American Cancer Society this year. I love getting together with my friends and spending time with my family.
