Beverly's Story
Well, let's see..............right after high school, I married, worked until I had my daughter. I was a stay-at-home mother for a while, had my son, then went back to school--college this time! (finally, after nearly 20 years!). I was a double major, education and psychology. Unfortunately, I didn't finish the education degree (only 2 courses needed) but did finish the psychology degree (bachelor's) which I enjoyed much more than the education stuff anyway. LOL (So much fun figuring out there are people out there even more dysfunctional than me!!) During my last year of college, I got a divorce after almost 23 years of marriage. I went to work full time at DFCS--didn't stay, worked with children with problems until it went bankrupt, finally landed in a counseling practice where we do court-mandated group therapy. I lead a group for female perpetrators of domestic violence, casemanage for the anger management groups, domestic violence groups and sex offender groups. ob. I'm broke, I work crappy hours, and work in/near a crack neighborhood, but I have to admit, most of the time, the work is interesting, to say the least. My daughter is 24, recently married in a "celtic" style ceremony, has numerous animals, has her artwork on several fantasy art sites on the internet and designs/creates costumes, anime, dragon-con type stuff and also "steam-punk" and renaissance/pirates of the Caribbean garb. She and I go to the Renaissance Festival each year in costume and are beginning belly dance classes together (change of plans: my daughter is 10 weeks pregnant--wow, my first grandchild-to-be! So, belly dancing will have to wait a few months LOL). My son is 20, tall, lanky build, has a really cute smile, knows to buy females perfume, roses, chocolate and jewelry for all gift giving occasions (trained him well!) and is really cute (wants a girlfriend LOL), attends West Georgia Tech where he studies computer networking . Whew--lot of stuff, huh? My life has turned out a little differently than I expected, but overall, its pretty okay.
