Beverly's Story
I'm still playing the flute. I've been in the Austin Symphonic Band (ASB) since 1986. Got divorced in 2005 and married Larry Lowak in 2008. We live in New Braunfels, but I still drive to north Austin for ASB rehearsals once a week. I also occasionally play in the Comal Community Band of New Braunfels when needed (for Wurstfest, etc.). in Austin. My older son, Clint, is 33 and also a flutist but while I'm just an amateur, he is a professional. He won the Boston Symphony/Boston Pops 2nd flute audition in 2011 and started playing for them that fall. He was in a rehearsal at Symphony Hall at the time of the Boston Marathon bombings (4/15/13), and the finish line was only a couple of blocks away from there. Thank goodness he was inside a building that day!
