Beverly McGuire's Story

After 2 years at Memphis State I moved to New York City to attend Fashion Institute of Technology. My first job was at Ladies' Home Journal magazine as Assistant Fashion Editor where I stayed 5 years. Then 2 years at Modern Bride as an Assistant Home Furnishings Editor. My big break came when I became a Decorating Editor at House Beautiful magazine, and I had that job for 22 years. to shoots for every magazine under the sun and some national ad campaigns. The industry retired me after 30 years when a new regime took over. I spend my time with various design-related professional organizations, especially those that spotlight preservation. My hobbies are traveling as much as I can handle, and I took up the ukulele. I always wanted to be a fashion executive when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a great idea. As it turns out, they were right.
