William Cherico:  

My father, Bill Cherico, was an equestrian trainer extraordinaire and a lover of horses. He started riding in his early teens in Clarion County, PA where he grew up with his family as the youngest of 11 siblings. Eventually he managed the family farm outside of New Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. He was a WW2 Vet and eventually moved out west to San Diego, CA. Here he became a produce manager for Food Basket/Lucky Stores and eventually retired. The first 10 years of his retirement he spent in Jamul, CA. where with his love of horses he started Bill's Buggy & Wagon Rental. He had a collection of Wagons, Buggy's, Surrey's and even a Sleigh, along with Dixie, a Morgan-Quarter Horse , a Mule named Barney and a Clydesdale sized Draft horse that was larger than a small school bus. Dixie was the star of the show and together they made a proud team. She had enough personality to wow any crowd and along with my father’s expertise with horses Dixie learned her job well.
