Bill's Story
I thoroughly enjoyed my years at FCHS and if I had one regret, it was not participating in football and basketball my Jr and Sr years. I decided to focus on golf and in the long run, the golf game opened many doors for me over the last 30 years! Today, I can still break 80 on most days and if I ever slow down from working, my scores get better fairly quickly. I knew I did not want to work in the coal mines and decided to join the Air Force to try something different. In a 30 plus year career, I was afforded the opportunity to work on a college education and led me to complete an Associate degree, a Bachelor's degree and two Master's degrees. No doubt, serving in the military changed my life....Expand for more
Now over 30 years later, I am a retired Lt Col and now work as a National Director for business development at a commercial grade metal roofing company. During my Air Force career, I served in countries like Italy, Germany, Oman, Afghanistan, Turkey to name a few. In the US, I have been stationed in IL, MO, SD, MS, and TX. I had the honor to serve and lead as a group commander during Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan immediately following 9-11-2001 and believe those days were not only my toughest, but my proudest days to serve our country. I enjoyed the last class reunion I was able to attend and I hope we have a class reunion in the next few years so we can catch up with each other.
