Bill's Story
Life
Spent 3 years in the Army following high school, mostly in Germany. Returned in 1966 and attended San Jose State University. Joined IBM in 1966. Met my future wife, Melanie in 1966 (1966 was an important year in my life!). We were married in January 1968. First son, Tim born in 1969. Second son, Kevin, born in 1970. Graduated SJSU with B.S. Business 1971. Moved into programming at IBM in 1971. Daughter, Jennifer, born in 1974. l assignment in 1989 and was in London from 1989 through 1993, introducing new IBM software and hardware throughout Europe. Back to San Jose in late 1993 where I worked managing a project management team across Tucson, San Jose and Portland. Retired from IBM in June 2002. Melanie retired from IBM in June of 2003. We have built a retirement home on a golf course near Portland, Oregon, and moved there in July 2003. We have 4 grandchildren; Kevin's 2 sons --- Ryan, 18, and Thomas, 14, and Jennifer's 2 sons --- Riley, 3, and Colin, born Aug 12, 2008. We continue to travel and enjoy our retirement.
