Bill's Story
Hello, friends. After graduating from OTHS in June 1970, I spent four years at Rutgers College and graduated with my B. A. in history in 1974. I also was certified to teach social studies, and for the next 36.5 years, I worked at Hunterdon Central Regional HS in Flemington NJ, where I taught social studies as well as Spanish language, and then became the supervisor of the social studies department in 1987, retiring from that position in Dec. 2010. e to 37 years of a loving marriage, with hopefully many more to come. Sheila is a jewelry designer who majored in art at Rutgers, where she was one of the 400+ women who were among the first graduating class of females at Rutgers (1976).
Education has been a great career and I continue to enjoy helping students hone their skills and improve their practice. I never regretted my career choice and as I've told many, many people over the years, I looked forward to each and every day at work (and I continue to do so, albeit on a less hectic schedule...).
I wish all of my classmates and other OTHS grads the very best, and look forward to our class' 50th reunion in 2020.
Best regards,
Bill Fernekes, OTHS 1970
