Bill's Story

UPDATE: Well, it’s been 53 and 1/2 years since since we graduated in 1968! Wow! What an E-ticket ride!! Life has been great!!! 3 children, all successful, healthy, happily married with great kids of their own, and most importantly, they are all gainfully employed!!! Judy (Tate- FOHI ‘70) and I will celebrate our 47th anniversary in August 2021. We now have 10 fantastic grandchildren ranging (as of February 2021) from 4 months to 20 in a few weeks (5 boys and 5 girls). I retired as a Deputy Superintendent/HR and school attorney in 2007 and then practiced as an HR consultant/trainer/facilitator until last year. There’s so much more to share but we’ll save that for e-mails. I hope and pray you are all well and sooo look forward to seeing you in our future reunions. God bless, be well and most importantly these days, be safe!! February 28, 2021 update: re: covid19; so far so good! We get our 2nd shot next week! Hallelujah! Some challenges tho: started dialysis 3 times a week last December. It is what it is! Blessed to live in this dispensation where kidney disease is treatable! Also, diagnosed with Parkinsons last December. ...Expand for more
Very few symptoms at this point. Decided to perform community service during the pandemic. I maintain 160 k-rails in the Cajon Pass, painting over graffiti and picking up trash. I spend about 4 hours a day doing this. I alao clean up my neighborhood in north Fontana, in what is referred to as Sierra Lakes, our 2100 homes on Fontana’s only golf course. For those who haven’t been back in years, our community is northwest of the old fruit stand at Sierra and Highland Ave. (Which is the Sierra Ave and the Interstate 210 freeway. 4200 homes are now going in north of us. Fontana’s population is now over 210,000 people. What was it when we graduated! 20,000 or so? Fontana Unified School District had a total of 15 schools back then. Today, there are about 50, including FIVE comprehensive high schools and 2 alternative ed schools (I think! There may be more specialized schools!) Anyway, that’s the latest! Keep in touch while we still can!! all former classmates from the late 60's and to my many, many former students at FJHS, FOHI and Sequoia. Life is good. I hope it is for you also!!! Please drop a line when you have a chance!!

So, found this beautiful chalk art on the sidewalk across from my home this morning. It wasn’t there last night but it just “showed up” this morning. A nice message in these dark times.
