Bill's Story

After highschool went to UCONN, played varsity hockey, studied finance. Worked in the brokerage industry for 23 yrs. Branch manager at AG Edwards for 12. Lived in South Texas for 17 years. Remarried, retired, moved to Costa Rica all in 2006. Play plenty of golf, try to horseback ride couple times a week. -------------------------------------- You never know what life has in store, August of '09 I found a man dead in a bar bathroom, recorded my second career hole in one, and fell 10 feet off a cliff at a restaurant and broke my back. Thank God things only come in three's! I am healing well and will be ready by Jan. to compete in the "senior" (say it isn't so!) National Costa Rican golf championships barring another lightning strike! --------------------------------------- Sept. 4, 2011...funny thing life is, I had moved back to Texas in May after nearly 5 years in Costa Rica and we bought a really great home in the "Lost Pines" area. Huge pine trees and rolling land which reminded us of "up north". We hadn't had rain at all for 3 months so everything was bone dry when the first norther of the year blew through with really heavy and dry winds. Long story short, my wife was in Austin shopping when I went outside for a smoke only to see massive smoke and fire. I got my son and 4 dogs out and 2 cars. We were not allowed back into the area for 3 days then to find our entire street was gone except fot 2 donkeys that survived in a "hearty board" A frame hut. (1,500 homes were burned) I could never in a million years believe this could happen but as the bumber sticker says "$hit happens"! So we are going forward with a bigger respect for nature, different view on life and how short it can be and positive attitudes. I have lived through the eye of 2 hurricanes, seen several tornadoes, wrecked a bunch of high hp cars, the big earthquake in Costa Rica, 12+++ ft. waves but never ever seen anything so big and overwhelming as this fire! So anyway, hopefully it'll be ...Expand for more
a while until I update y'all on my next "great adventure". -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 12/1/17 I "un retired" in 2013 due to losing our house two years earlier and have become very involved in the precious metals markets. 3/17/15 was the day I was baptized and accepted Jesus Christ as my saviour, the following day I partnered with the man who "ran gold to $875 in 1980". Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined being business partners with "Mr. Gold", Jim Sinclair! My wife Kathryn who had never painted before in her life began pastel painting in 2012 and has become a Master portraitist. I originally thought it would just be a hobby but she progressed so rapidly it became obvious she was a prodigy. So far she has won several competitions and been chosen as a finalist in two separate international competitions with less than 5 years experience. Watching her work is so cool! Her works can be found at Kathrynholter.com It turns out I have been walking around on a broken hip since 2008. I knew I hurt it but did as my Dad always told me, got up and went on down the road. I did go to a doctor in 20012 but obviously my x-rays were switched as I was told everything was fine. I went this summer to another ortho doc, he looked at the x-rays and started laughing. He asked "how old were you when you broke your hip"? The ball was compression fractured and looked like a mushroom, plus it was 100% bone on bone. My hip was replaced at the end of August and now have zero pain! I promised my doctor I would have a martial arts video done for him use as advertisement at the end of three months. There's a whole lot of dust on this old bottle but the motion is still there. Since we cannot post links here, you can find my YouTube video by typing in "Bill Holter with a new hip". Hope you enjoy it! -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
