Bill's Story
Life
After High School I learned to fly in Eugene and got all of my licenses that I needed to become a commercial airline pilot. I finished up in '87 with 250 hours and started teaching other people how not to kill themselves (and me)as they were learning to fly.
I got married in June of '89 to a wonderful girl. Her name is Susan and we have 2 kids, Tyler who is 15 and Amanda is 11.
I'm a captain for Horizon Airlines based out of Portland. I've worked at Horizon since 1991. I lived in Vancouver WA. for 12 years but we moved to Battle Ground WA. in August of 2003 to get away from town and out into the country. I fly into WA. OR. CA. ID. MT. AZ. lland Q-400. It's a 76 passenger and 4 crew airplane that's manufactured by Bombardier of Toronto Canada.
Before working for Horizon, I lived in Las Vegas from Jan. of '90 to June of '91 flying tours of the Grand Canyon. It was a good experience but after flying in 116 degree heat with no air conditioning, and people getting air sick, it's nice to be back in the Northwest. Vegas is a nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there again.
Some of the things I like doing for fun are riding my motorcycle, a Honda Vtx 1300 with my friends, scuba diving, skiing, playing bass guitar with my church band, doing some traveling, camping and riding dirt bikes with my son.
