Bill's Story
It is 2012 here and i find myself still getting up in the morning and heading out to work, Just a few more years to go before i hang up the role book and say goodbye to public education. I meant that as a tongue in cheek comment
because I can say working with special needs kids has been a long and rewarding experience for me. My students have given back so much and they have helped me put all things in life into their proper perspective. Anyone who knew me back at school would probably be shocked that i would spend a good portion of my life in the field of education. I didnt become a serious student until my Junior year of high school and various family complications forced me oujt of school. I hated being in the army but that experience taught me alot and helped me to see what was important in life. elf. I worked foralmost 11 years with United cerebral palsy of NYS in various jobs from the positions of Therapy aide doing direct care to disabled children to adults, teacher in a day treatment facilitgy, andalso as an asst Boro coordinator in UCP's Central recreation department. My education continued SICC, Richmond College, CSI, Long Island University for my MS,
and finally Florida Atlantic University. I am now in my 23rd year of teaching Exceptional Student Education in the Palm Beach County School System
I keep myself out of trouble by enjoying bicycling and Nature phorography, writing poetry, some occasional karaoke,
softball during off days and holidays from work. I have been here in Florida for 24 years and i love it here (especially during the winter months), but Staten Island will always be my home. I am truly grateful forall the friends and people i have passed along the way
