Until I retired at the end of 2010, I was a research scientist investigating enzymes that are important in cancer, tissue damage, wound healing, tissue growth, tissue differentiation, heart disease, cell death, traumatic brain injury, etc. I have published about 100 papers in various scientific journals in my 40-year career as a scientist.
My lab was located at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in San Francisco, which is perched on a cliff facing the Golden Gate entrance to San Francisco Bay, the Golden Gate Bridge, and the Pacific Ocean.
I moved from the San Francisco Bay Area to Sonora, CA in September of 2012.
