Bill (Dale)'s Story
During our school days, I went by my middle name "Dale". Once I went into the Marine Corp, I changed it to my first name William, Bill for short. Of course I am from Southgate, Michigan. I will have been married at the end of February this year (2016) for 45 years. I meet and married my wife while I was in the service. She also served in the Marines' for 4 years. ines. In 1967 I was sent to Vietnam, where I served 2 tours of 13 months each. Upon returning to the states, I was stationed in Washington DC, where I was in a joint service communication command. I got to work on presidential trips and the Apollo missions . I left the service in 1972 after the Marines and I couldn't agree on sending me back to Vietnam. They wanted me to go, I didn't. My hitch was up, so I got out.
