Bill's Story
In the picture I am in the blue shirt with Larry Lee (class of '74), taken by Larry's wife on 1/4/09.
Those that know me know I love radio and always wanted to work in radio. After high school I became a manager of a little restaurant before going to work at a record store in Valley View Mall. Later, in 1978, I got my first job in radio in Eagle Pass, Texas. With each step up in radio, you move to a different town because of non-compete agreements. Finally in 1993 I wound up in Houston where I manage an AM radio station, KYND. You might remember an article in the Pony Express about a guy that ran a little radio station from the garage of his parent's home that covered his neighborhood. I'm that guy.
I've done several other things on the side. I published a tropical island travel newsletter from about 1984 through 1988, an extension of my interest in geography and the cultures of the world.

growing sector of coin collecting.
I'm still holding on to my dream of owning my own radio station. My vision is a small community where I know many of the listeners and can operate a station that is a reflection of life in the community. Perhaps that is in response to an inner need to leave a positive legacy and perhaps establish a place I can call home.
I was married from 1984 through 1991 and I have no children.
I make it back to the Metroplex fairly frequently as my parents now reside in Keller. My sister still lives in Mesquite.
In short, I still love my career although I'm not impressed with where radio has gone in the last decade or so and I enjoy life with little stress and hassle along the way. Maybe that's why I'm always smiling and always in a good mood. I tend to be a very open person and tend to value my friends very highly.
I'm by no means rich monetarily, but I do okay. I consider myself lucky to work in a career I'm passionate about and to earn enough money to be fairly satisfied with where I am. This is not to say I don't always strive for more.
