Bill's Story
School
Had terrific friends at Ruskin. That's really all that matters. I hear stories about how emotionally scarring high school is, but I guess it pays to be socially oblivious. I knew the same 20-30 people from grade school through graduation and all of them were really decent people.
College
Started out as a clueless freshman in Foster-Knox Hall, then a clueless sophomore at the TKE house. Somehow made grades, but didn't know what a student deferment was. Received...Expand for more
an invitation from Uncle Sam, somehow ended up in the Coast Guard.
I finished my BS and MA. Didn't know how handy these degrees would be until later in life and my first retirement. Second careers can be very rewarding.
Military
Entered the Coast Guard during the draft and served 25 terrific years. Rescue was very rewarding (until I got too old) and retirement came at just the right time. I've been retired for 11 years and have great memories of those times.
