Bill's Story
Life
After graduation I joined the Air Force and served in SAC and ATC. Eight years later I took my discharge and went to the University of Illinois on the G.I. Bill. I Graduated in 1971 with honors with a Bachelors Degree in Communications.
I went to work for the Social Security Administration. My last job for SSA was as the Employer Liaison Officer serving 11 states in the west from Montana to Louisiana and New Mexico to North Dakota - and everything in between. It was an interesting job and I enjoyed working with employers.
I was never far from the military. In 1975 I joined the Colorado Air Guard and 18 years later took my retirement as a Master Sergeant from the Air Force Reserves after serving in Desert Shield/Desert Storm.
Always enjoyed that Blue Uniform and the force. Enjoy the retirement even more. And visiting with old friends in the military I met along the way.
Along the way I've had two sons - Doug and Chris - and two marriages. It has been a satisfactory life and both fun and an adverture eve...Expand for more
ry day.
Now, I'm retired and beginning to do some serious exploration in the US and Canada -- I'm still a history buff and want to visit lots of historic sites --- and have bought a 5th wheel camper. That should take care of several years and be another adverture. I plan on going exploring "America" searching for those historical sites and places that have long interested me.
I moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming after retirement and it is a nice retirement haven for lots of retirees. No income taxes, low property taxes, and a low cost of living. Mostly retirees here are married ones though.
Spent part of last summer in Scotland and London for the Gathering of the Clans (I'm a member of three - Gregor, Southerland, and MacFarlane) through both my Mom and Dad. Great fun and very interesting. Most recent trip was a cruise to the SE Caribbean. Also great fun.
I am alone (again) and I am looking for a final life's partner. Who knows when I'll find one. Until then I'll continue to enjoy life with my Scottie and camper alone.
