Bill's Story
Life
After graduation, I attended DeVRY Institute of Technology in Irving TX where I completed my BS in Computer Information Systems. On the first day of registration, I met my wife to be and we have been together ever since. Deb and I married in June of 1986 following graduation from DeVRY in Feb 1986. I took a job with EDS that sent me to Boston, MA for 18 months beginning in October 1986. After 13 years with EDS, and a couple of bumps in the road, I found a position with United American Insurance as a Senior Programmer Analyst and started anew in January 2002. Had to leave that crazy place though and find a job where I'm appreciated and they value their employees. It's amazing working for Southwest Corporate!!!!
We have four beautiful daughters(I am biased of course, but they are lovely girls) ranging in age now from 24 to 15. Yes, we were trying for a boy, but as Deb said, "Bill, you just keep getting the plumbing order wrong." So, we finally stopped and cut the problem off at the source, if you know what I mean. Anyway, we enjoy living in Plano and have been here since 1988. The "now" picture is from our team pictures for the softball team my daughter Megan (now 19). I didn't want to scare anyone with any of my old photos!!! I'd have to scan one from the yearbook anyway. Too lazy to do that. It would take too much work.
School
Enjoyed every minute of high school and college..Weird huh!!!
College
College was different at a technical school. The social atmosphere was certainly different as we were mostly all there to get ahead in life and not party (not that so...Expand for more
me of us didn't party hard anyway). I wasn't involved in any colleges groups or organizations. I worked my way through college, earning every dime I made. It was nice though to meet my future wife there and experience college with her. We had some great times with friends and wish we had kept in touch with them after college.
Workplace
Easy!!! Spent 3 years working at Fox Photo in Irving working my way through college. Got my first industry related job with JLB Enterprises in Irving, a small company specializing in VAR systems. John Barnett was a great guy to give me a start and I thank him for the opportunity. Let go from JLB and went to work for Schlotzsky's for awhile then joined EDS for a 15 year stint.
Left EDS to join Aurum Technology. What a mistake!!! But, things happen for a reason. Laid off from Aurum, spent 6 months among the unemployed. Started working for ACS in August 2001. Stayed there for until Dec 2001, then left for better job closer to home at my current position with United American Insurance. Stayed there for 6 years until I couldn't stand the ridiculous mis-management and poor treatment of their key employees. Leaving UA in March 2008, I'm now working for Southwest Corporate Federal Credit Union as a Senior Analyst/Programmer. So far, so good.
My two middle girls are in college. The oldest Michelle is has graduated from UNT with a degree in education. Katy is studying education but she decided to go to SFA. Megan is a sophomore at Texas Tech studying stuff. Brenna is a dancing fool and now a teenager and could be driving soon. Look out!!!
