Bill's Story
I'm the Artistic & Managing Director of a professional, non-profit theatre company in upstate NY. After leaving OSU, I founded a theatre company in Florida, while also working behind the camera on feature films, documentaries and television commercials. In 1994 I moved to NY to run another theatre, then to Utah in 2001 to run supervise construction and run a new, 1,000 seat performing arts center being built (Heritage Center), then back to NY to run still more theatres.
I took up windsurfing in the mid 70's, eventually becoming a national or North American champion a number of times from the late 80's thru the late 90's - I was invited to and competed in the Olympic Trials in 1992 ...Expand for more
in an effort to become the one male to represent the US at the Olympics. In 2014, after a 10 year hiatus, because I didn't live anywhere where I could keep sailing, on a whim I went to the National Midwinter Championships to resume competing. It's the only time each year I'm on a windsurfer - for an old guy, I can still finish in the top 10 in the country. Not sure how much longer I can pull that off, but I like trying.
Each year I spend a couple weeks out west exploring national parks and hiking in somewhat remote places to photograph landscapes of the American West. Some of my photos have been published nationally and it's something I'd love to pursue if I ever get to retire.
