Bill's Story
Guess if I am going to pay for this I might as well put a brief account of my journey up to this point 5/2010. After High school I went to college at St. Martins College in Olympia. I ran track there and did pretty good lettered for 3 years and got a scholarship to help with the college bills. After college I wanted around for Uncle Sam to draft me, which he did in March of 68. I dd basic and advanced training at Fort Lewis, mostly in the rain. I also managed a 5:10 mile in combat boots. I looked like we were headed for Nam, but for some reason we ended up in Germany. I was transferred to Mannheim, Germany where I worked as a counselor in a prison stockade. Really just a prison by for some reason they called it a stockade, guess it sounds more military. It was at a wine feast in Bad Derkheim that I met my wife Ann. She is from England and was working for a Chemical company as a translator. ish even if it was English, English. After I was discharged (March 1970) Ann joined me in Seattle and we were married in 1971. I got a job working for the department of corrections at the Reformatory in Monroe. I worked there several years, finally taking a leave of absences to pursue a masters degree in Guidance and Counseling from Seattle, U. Seemed like a good way to us up my GI Bill funding. I returned to prison work after a year and a half and completed my Masters in 75. I ended up working at a prison for the mentally ill, Special Offenders Unit, for the remainder of my state service. I was finally released from prison for good in March of 2000. During that time I continued to run, played soccer, raced canoes and visited England and Europe with Ann. I am currently working as a phone interviewer for Battelle Research (6 years now)and a couple years ago took up wood turning. There is probably more but this is enough of me for now....
