California for 5 years before moving to Washington where I worked for a private plant disease diagnostic lab for a couple of years. I also worked for the Kitsap County Health Dept for a few years before starting a commercial specialty mushroom farm which my wife and I ran for 10 years. We shut down the farm in 2001 and moved to Texas where I was a senior scientist for a microbial biotechnology company for 12 years before retiring in 2014. We moved back to Washington State where I have an agricultural consulting service, but mostly fish, hike, backpack and just enjoy the Pacific Northwest.
