Bob's Story
Life
I spent 8th, 9th & 10th in Hawkins, Texas. Then, my family moved me back home to the Mead High School in Spokane! Blessed to be a member of the graduating class of 1974 from Mead. A year later, I enrolled in Radio/TV at Spokane Falls Community College. Finishing in the spring of 1977, I was working at KUDY/KICN FM hosting SpiritFest from 3-6:30pm. From radio, I moved to Christian Cable TV Channel 9. TV had been what I'd sought in college. During this time transitioning from radio to TV, I was also married in 1978. My career progressed from two years in Cable TV production to a five yr. stint as a technical director for KXLY TV4(ABC)Spokane. This experience proved invaluable and landed me the TD spot with the 700 Club and CBN News Tonight in 1985. Revenue shortages due to poor commercial sales cancelled the news program after only six weeks, but I was honored to be retained to handle a share of the TD responsibilities on the 700 Club. What a learning experience. A TD is the person responsible for providing all of ...Expand for more
the camera shots and special effects during a program. One year later, I brought my family back to Spokane and returned to a supervisory role with KXLY TV. Two years later, my marriage ended. After a year raising my three small children as a single dad, Debbie came into all of our lives. We were married just about a year from the time my ex-wife moved out. In 1992 I jumped from TV operations to radio ad sales. From radio sales to cable TV commercial sales to a one-year stint as sales manager for KTSL FM. KTSL is the adult, contemporary Christian music station, the format I had worked during the Â70s. I left to pursue other experiences only to return to KTSL as operations manager in June 1998. I served as General Manager from May 2000 until 'released' in mid-March of this year. God only knows what he has in store for me now. And that's just fine with me. I would love to hear from you.
