Bob's Story
Life takes funny turns. After retiring from the Foreign Service in November 2009, the State Department asked me to come back as the Acting Coordinator for Reconstruction and Stabilization. So now I'm responsible for the "civilian surge" into crises areas around the world: I have people deployed to such places as Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Sudan, the DRC, and Haiti. Guess where I'll be visiting next.
My last five years were spent traveling the world from Washington - everywhere from Iraq to Central Asia to the B...Expand for more
alkans to Southeast Asia and all over Africa. Fun, but tiring.
Beth has been doing more of her art work, and I keep telling her that I'm prepared to be a kept man, but she just scoffs at me.
Kids are growing well, Matt is in his sophmore year at Montana State, majoring in mechanical engineering, mountainbiking and boarding, but not necessarily in that order. Ellen is starting her senior year in high school. and thinking about draining my savings accounts.
