Bobby's Story

Face book: Bob Cummings After High school I went into the Air Force and was an Air Traffic Controller for a while. After that I entered school at Clayton College and then found my way to Athens and UGA for about 10 years. I completed bachelors, Masters in Painting, and a Doctorate in Art and Education. After teaching art in Athens at Cedar Shoals High school for 6 years I made my way to Piedmont College in Demorest Georgia Where I taught art for five years before moving to Education. I have three beautiful daughters. One is a teacher, one is a veterinarian, and one is studying to be a nurse. I have two beautiful grandsons. I have been blessed. Current Life: I am currently living in Northeast Georgia,(Baldwin area) and am still at Piedmont College starting my 18th year. 2008/09 Painting, sculpting, photography, being a Dean and Department Chair(Education? How did that happen?), being a Professor (Research and Creativity and Critical Thinking) which means I spew and pontificate profusely. ecent Wyoming Photos) and design and build fountains and am working on a GREEN project using recycled styrafoam to build sculptures, buildings etc. for gardens. I have begun working on a photo exhibit dealing with reflections. Reflections being both literal and a metaphor. I just completed designing a doctoral program for Piedmont College, their first ever. It is in Teaching and Learning and has been approved by SACs. I currently have 600 students in the prerequisite EDS degree program. I will start the new Doctoral program in Fall 09. I understand we have over 500 folks interested in 30 seats, this should be interesting to say the least. My favorite memories are of the Mary Brannon Church crowd, Sylvan High, motorcycles, and a sky blue '59 Chevy Impala with wings. And through the years I have remembered those wings to have been from angels as I am still here to talk about it. Smile.
