Robert "Bob"'s Story

Life ... webmetroplex.com... usaradio.com/network_news_team.htm... and...fyi... I would never use a term like "factoid". which means "like a fact". That's a hippie-dippy CNN term used (above) by Classmates.com when they're trying to say "small fact", the word for which would be "factette". I always wanted to be a frog when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a great idea. As it turns out, they were nuts. How do you blow off steam? Describe your favorite way to relax. Darvocet What's the wildest thing you ever did in school? Mike Collier and I through firecrackers from the sky gondola at Six Flags, and got thrown out of the park! If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have Arizona diet peach tea in a 52 oz jug, my headphones, and a sandwich lovingly made by my dear wife Susan to be able to deal with the day-to-day. The Lord God Almighty! (Jehovah, not Allah), Yeshua Hamaschiach (aka Jesus Christ) and the Holy Spirit dwelling within me, empowering me to live each day. I've lived in Dallas, Los Angeles (twice) and New York City (twice). All the moving motivated by radio news job changes. That was from 1973-1982. Back in Dallas since October of '82. Facebook & Twitter have taken up more of my time, lately. And trying to figure out how to keep from losing massive amounts of data when computers crash. Think I've found the answer in MozyHome Remote Backup. They allow monthly payments, $4.95, which Carbonite does not. Other than that, Susan & I like to watch a lot of movies via Amazon-TiVo dowloads, etc. Also Clean House, How Clean Is Your House, Gordon Ramsey and Primeval. Also recently got involved with Mercy Street in West Dallas. Mentoring Gaylon Taylor, soon to be 5th grader at Carver Elementary. Great kid! Excellent ministry. Willey is my cat (Tabby, essentially). Susan's cat is Frank (Old Blue Eyes), a Siamese I got for her in Colleyville about 10 years ago. We also have a Scottish fold named Button and a mini-Lion named Marmalade (our outdoor hunter-gatherer). Also a Shepherd mix named Lady and a parakeet named either Sweetie, Tweetie or Petey (can never remember which). Too many marriages and divorces and bad career moves. Finally putting my trust in the Lord to take over ("Jesus, Take the Wheel!"). And He is faithful and good. Dale Taliaferro has become the spiritual beacon in my life, teaching me more and more about the Lord in weekly Bible studies at Bison energy on Monticello in Dallas. 7am each Thursday, alth...Expand for more
ough we're taking the summer off. Watch this space for an update on when we start back up in August or Sept, so you can come join us! I prayed with Dale & Lynn Newman at Highland Park Cafeteria back on Jan 30, 1983. Looking back, I think that was a renewal of my relationship with the Lord that really dated back to my childhood. It was then, in the midst of a divorce and becoming a single parent, that I first heard the Bible taught as something relevant -- literally, verse by verse -- to our everyday lives. What an exciting discovery! (If Mrs. Julia Ahlfinger is reading this, please fix my paragraphs!) It was also when I first began to grasp -- ever so slowly still -- the reality of being "born again", as Jesus says we must be as we become believers. Wanna know more? -- Webmetroplex - dot - com / Salvation - dot - html (Classmates doesn't allow web site addresses!) Today, both of us without full time jobs, staying one step ahead of the Foreclosure Monster, my life makes more sense than ever. I am really having to rely on the Lord to graciously provide all the things we need for us to live each day. Somehow happy (blessed) to be a poster child for the Great Recession. ;-> If I could improve my home, I'd remodel the kitchen & bathrooms and add on a larger office. My dream home would be a new swimming pool. Although I've had a hand in helping raise 5 kids -- and still love and pray for and stay to stay in touch with John and Sunshine & Cameron (God rest Eric's dear soul), perhaps my closest ongoing relationship has been with my one biological son, Austin. I don't exactly regret that I once told him it did not matter what he did in life, as long as he followed the Lord's leading. One day he comes to me and says, "Dad, God is calling me to New Haven". He and the YWAM folks who moved up there have wonderful ministries (Although he & Erika are no longer officially YWAMMers, I told him just living as an intact Christian family, these days, is a radical ministry. And it is). They have 3 amazing sons -- Gabriel, Seth & Jude (aka, my grandsons)! Now, after all those times working in NYC, I can't get arrested there. It would be such a blessing if the Lord would make it possible for us to live near them and get to see all the New Haven Morrisons on more of a regular basis. "G-Daddy" (as Gabe named me) loves them all very much and misses them constantly. They teach me that a Biblical, Christian family is still possible in this mad age in which we live.
