Bob's Story
officially dropped out of Lakeview HS, Chgo age 15. Odd jobs.. Machinist and Tool & Die apprentice program. Left for US Armay physical. Jan-64. (did not pass physical.. eyes 20/500+) did not know that. so pal of mine Joined Spec Forces Reserve.. south side Chgo. Attended meeting and orientation, signed waivers.. missed induction! Pal said I was AWOL. So looked at my status. Not 1A but 1Y. Meant i may be called up later. I was smart same as all you folks. Bored... Worked doing production maching, 40,000 piece runs. ly boring but gave me the chance to review my options.. $1.75 /hoir with nickle raises every six months.. I could see was NOT what I wanted.
Started Y program. Also computyer programming classes. Satgave me 15 credit hours. Wow.. i am way smareter than i thought.
Spent one year UofIll Navy Pier. Other classes I neede IIT and other colleges. No degree. Couldn't face the effprt...
Computer programming turned into manufacturing cost accounting and systems. Retired in Colorado.. still kicking.. Best school I ever attended..
