Bob's Story
Life
Joined the Army to fly helicopters after a boring year at Lorain Community College. Got married in 1969 and am still married to the same wife. Went to Vietnam and flew CH-47 Chinooks in I Corp near the DMZ and was highly decorated with 3 Distinguished Flying Crosses, 22 Air Medals and a Bronze Star. Went to Hanau, Germay for two years before leaving Active Duty(Stayed in the Reserves until 11/2004). Obtained all my FAA pilot licenses and taught flying in West Palm Beach, FL until I was hired by the FAA as an Air Traffic Controller at MiamI ARTCC in 2/74. After 5 years I transfered to Washington D.C. as an FAA Aviation Safety Inspecter, giving pilot check rides and investigating aircraft accidents. t Lake City ARTCC in 1995 to enjoy the great skiing in Park City, UT. The Mormons threw us out of Utah in 2000. I guess we drank too much beer and I couldn't talk my wife into letting me have a couple of more wives that were 20 year olds. So we came back to Leesburg, VA where I worked until I retired from the FAA in 2/2002. I'm now working for the MITRE Corp as an Air Space Designer for the FAA Air Traffic System. I have one daughter that is 29 and is working in the area as a School Psychologist. I still do a little flying now then, but my interest has changed to Sailing. We normally do one trip a year to the British Virgin Islands and charter a 47 foot Sailing Catamaran and sail on the Cheasepeake Bay from Annapolis, MD during the summer months. I am certified to Captain a Sail boat up to 55 Foot. Hope to hear from some of you
