Bob's Story
Wow...What a ride it's been! I spent 4 years in the Navy following high school. Married my wife Jan in 1968 and daughter Stacy was born in '69. We returned to Denver in '70. Numerous jobs in the '70's. I just didn't know what I wanted to be when I grew up! Moved to California in '79. We live in the middle of Sequoia National Forest and Giant
Sequoia National Monument. It's a small resort area with less then 100 year round residents. Numerous jobs in the 80's...STILL didn't know what I wanted to be when I grew up! Spent most of the 90's as a Forest Fire Lookout for the U.S. Forest Service. I'd found my niche! Then, wouldn't you know it, they closed my lookout due to lack of funding. Back to the drawing board. In 2000 I was offered the job of Water Master for the local water company. I accepted the job and started learning about the water business. Many classes and...Expand for more
tests later, I have a grade 3 Water Treatment License and a grade 2 Water Distribution License. Since I am planning on retiring next year(2009) I can say with confidence that it is the last job I will have. I enjoy it and wish I had started in the business years before.
As for life now, all is good. I love my wife more now then I did 46 years ago when I married her. She is my best friend. We enjoy traveling with our travel trailer hot tubbing (Every Night, Winter and Summer), and cocktails at the local saloon with the rest of the town folk. We are blessed to be able to live in such a beautifull place and to have so many friends.
Update! As of May 1, 2011, I 'm offically retired! And I'm happy to report that I've finally figured out what I wanted to be when I grew up! I've been looking for this position for 50 years! I highly recommend it to anyone thinking about it.
