Bob's Story
Life
After the relative tranquility of spending the first 16 years of my life in Marshall, Michigan, and the next two (my junior and senior years of high school) in Seminole, Florida, my life hasn't settled down since.
After graduating from high school, I have gone on to live in 8 other states, and 4 different European countries. The reason for these moves has been because of school or work.
After Seminole, I went to college at Michigan State University. While at MSU, I spent two different semesters of school on overseas study programs; one in London, England, the other in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
After graduating from MSU in 1988, I went to work for Campbell Soup as a sales rep, which I ended up doing for 5 years. I started with Campbell's in Birmingham, Alabama, was then transferred to Atlanta, Georgia, and finally to Washington D.C.,(my favorite place that I have lived).
In the fall of 1993, I went back to school full time at Indiana University to get my MBA. While at IU, I spent the summer between my two years of school in Ukraine on an internship, and then the fall semester of my second year on an exchange program with Manchester University in England.
After graduating from IU in 1995, I spent the next year and a half on various consulting assignments in Eastern European countries. One of these assignments (in Warsaw, Poland) turned out to be especially important to me, as I met the person who 4 years later would become my wife; Agnieszka.
In January of 1997, I moved to Ohio to take a job as the export salesperson for a food company. For 4 years, I spent over 50% of my time traveling to other countries, over 50 in total, but mostly in Europe. In May of 2000, Agnieszka and I got married. In early 2001, Agnieszka and I moved to Louisville, Kentucky, for another international sales job.
In April of 2004, keeping the same job, we moved to London, England, where we stayed until November of 2006, when we moved to Warsaw, ...Expand for more
Poland. In Warsaw, I am either working out of an office in the home, or traveling to visit customers in the 23 European countries where we export our products to.
Agnieszka and I still do not have any children, although we would like to someday.
One of these days, we do hope to settle down someplace, we just have no idea where that place will be. There are many times when I think to myself that "I would like to get back to a normal life - settling in one place, having some peace and calm in my life." Then, I realize that 'normal' for me for the past 26 years has meant moving on to new places, new challenges, and new experiences.
In regard to personal interests and goals, it probably wouldn't surprise anyone who reads this to learn that my goal in life is to "See and do the world". I know I won't see and do everything, but I will die trying. I love to see new places and do new things, and to meet interesting people from all over the world.
Travel is definitely one of our favorite activities. We also enjoy sports (playing and watching), all types of entertainment, being in nature, taking walks, and having interesting conversations with a variety of people.
If for some strange reason anyone that I know happens to be visting Warsaw, Poland - definitely look me up.
Next year (2008), my goal is to come back to the U.S. a number of times, all of course if time permits for me.
Since I moved to Europe in 2004, I haven't been back to the U.S. more than 3 times in a year, but next year there will be a number of things that I don't want to miss: a trade show in Vegas in February, Marshall and Seminole class reunions, MSU homecoming, a Yankees game at Yankee stadium before they tear the stadium down at the end of the 2008 season, my companies annual meeting in Florida in November, and possibly another visit at Christmas time to spend some time with my family.
I hope to run into as many old friends as possible during these trips.
