Bob's Story
Life
Just before high school graduation, my family - by now just my mother and I - moved back to Philadelphia from whence we had come in 1956. I actually spent my last week of high school living in that little motel out by Shadyside Lake. That fall, I went to East Stroudsburg State College. Four years later I had a wife, two sons and a BS degree. I tried teaching for a brief while, worked awhile as a policeman and as a protective services caseworker for the Luzerne County Area Agency on Aging. In 1976, I began working as the director of annual funds at College Misericordia, where I had been a dishwasher (along with Bob Parker) in high school. I later went on to become assistant director of development (fund raising) at King's College in Wilkes-Barre.

ay of Wyoming Valley, the Bicentennial Commission, Luzerne County Fair, Back Mountain Recreation Council and the like. I had the opportunity to get to know a lot of people. Then, in 1987, I took the position of director of alumni relations at East Stroudsburg University, my college alma mater. I commuted for the first five years, and as a consequence I had to cut most of my ties back in the Wilkes-Barre area because I simply did not have the time anymore. My two sons both graduated from Dallas High, but shortly after that their mother and I divorced and I moved permanently to Stroudsburg. I am since re-married. My wife Sandy and I recently retired and spend our winters at our home in Georgia and our summers in the Poconos. We enjoy the many activities in our 55+ community and spending time with our blended families. We've got 12 grandkids so far!
