Life
Left Coffeyville in 1960 for Wichita University, left W.U. in 1962 with 208 cr.hrs & more majors/minors than I could use! Became an Army Bandsman in 1962, was stationed all over, including 3 yrs in Orleans, France, 3.5 yrs in Stuttgart, Germany, Ft.Monroe, VA, Chicago, IL, & Atlanta, GA. I auditioned for & was accepted to the West Point Band in 1972, retiring from there in 1993. My last 10 years with the West Point Band, I was the Enlisted Bandleader, Band Sergeant Major, & Band Historian. While in Germany, I met & married Gudrun Lohse. y from West Point in the Apple Orchard Country of Ulster County, NY and am currently (Jul 2000) the President of the USMA Band Retiree/Alumni Assn. I have been, currently am, and will always be a lover of great Band music! The West Point Band is one of the best anywhere and I felt very priviledged to have been a part of that wonderful Band. I'm retired with 31+ yrs Active Duty Service and built a contemporary log home in the "boonies" of Marlboro, NY and love it! I attended the last Field Kindley Reunion and highly recommend it to those that didn't. The next one has been moved up to 2004, so let's save up some extra sheckles & enjoy these events!
