Bob's Story
Had my own business from the time I got out of the navy in 1964 until I got tired of the long hours etc. in 1992. Started a cabinet shop and did that until I lost a leg in a motorcycle accident in 1996. Then went to work for Costco Wholesale in 1997, and am still there. In 1994, had a melanoma removed from my left arm,and was told I had less than a year to live. The melanoma went to my right lung in 2002, and after removing the lower right lobe, was told that only 5% of persons with my problem lived through the first year. Had a heart attack in 1997, and have four stents in my heart. A month ago, when I was having trouble walking, a tumor was found in the inside of my spinal column at the back of my neck. The column was opened, the tumor removed, and the spine screwed back together. (one of the reasons I have time to sit at t...Expand for more
he computer and write this story.) A few more operations along the way, but nothing of note.
So much for the bad stuff. Each incident only lasted a short time, and most of my life has been great. Got the best wife in the world, (our 45th anniversiry this December),the kids that still go camping with us and we see several times a week, and two grand children that we spoil to death. Have a super job at Costco. Am the maintenance lead, which means I fix anything that breaks including electrical, plumbing, masonary, or whatever. Also build the displays. Run a small crew that does the cleaning. Go camping whenever we can,and in fact will be making a trip to the mountains on Labor Day. In winter, we go to the Yuma sand dunes, and there is no way to explain how much fun it is riding those sand bowls and hills.
Life is wonderful.
