Bob's Story
Greatest regret: Was declared a pro as freshman at Ysleta due to rodeo winnings and prevented from playing varsity football. Wildest thing I did (with Larry Carson) was hang the football coach in effigy at night watchman gunpoint. Have lived in 20 states (incl repetitions) and several foreign countries.
After high school went to college and earned BSEE degree. Played for college chess team. Joined Mensa. Commissioned into US Army. Left in 1968 as Captain. Went to grad school at UT Austin. Played first board for UT Chess Team.
Worked as consultant. Joined Motorola in Austin, Tx. Divorced and remarried. Spouse has been Georgia for 48 years. Have 5 kids. Received MBA at UT. Joined Digital Equipment in Europe in 1980 as JIT/TQC expert. Joined Western Digital in 1991 as VP Mate...Expand for more
rials in Ireland. Worked for Silicon Valley tech firms including AST Computer and S3. Last normal job was Senior VP Operations. Retired in 2003 and returned to consulting. Lived many years in Santa Fe, NM. Now fully retired in Texas except for dabbling in writing and politics. Wrote book, A Bridge Apart, about the El Paso-Juarez-Chihuahua area during Mexican Revolution and Prohibition - Based on 50 year family secret learned in 1985 (events covered in book 1919-1935). Published after 25 years on and off effort in September 2020. Available on Amazon kindle.
Enjoyed our Fifth Wheel trailer and cruising. Several hundred days or so cruising so far. Love to play bridge but have abandoned chess. Live in Sun City Texas (Georgetown, Texas) . Lots to do here so come join us. Cheers
