Bobbie's Story
I retired in May from 26 years of teaching in 2009. I taught Pottery and Art for the last 13 years at Los Lunas High School in New Mexico. Prior to that I taught at a mental institution where for 8 years I taught behavior disordered boys between 13 and 21 years old, and then I became the Art teacher for the remainder of my stint at the Los Lunas Hospital and Training school before it closed in 1996. I have worked two jobs for the last ten years and after retiring I kept my second job teaching art and pottery to criminals in a halfway house and to paraplegics, I do this for 6 hours a week. It is a state job they pay very well and I thoroughly enjoy what I do and the people I work with. I am now retired from this job as the state let me go as they ran out of money to continue my contract, as a matter of fact they let me and the other two teachers go in the middle of a contract. But it lasted 18 years and I thoroughly enjoyed every moment. I still volunteer once a week with my paraplegic people.
My degrees are in Art Education with a minor in English and a Master's degree in Special Education with a concentration in Behavior Disorders. I moved to NM in 1978 and have LOVED being here ever since. The weather is perfect every day, and my home is on a plush piece of property that looks like New Jersey but is plunk in the middle of he desert. I am in a village called Los Lunas and this is about 17 miles south of Albuquerque. Contrary to popular belief you do NOT need a Passport to come here.
My ten brothers and sisters are scattered all over the country, one in NJ, , three in Washington state, three in Texas and one brother here in NM. I have a huge studio and plan to do lots of art work in my ...Expand for more
spare time. Life is GREAT!!
I have been single for the last sixteen years and love it this way. I travel a lot and love going to tropical places. I have been to Australia for a month, to Machu Picchu, Lake Titicaca, the Amazon Jungle, toured all the Mayan ancient cities in the Yucatan including Palenque and Yaxchilan for 17 days. Hiked and camped in Alaska for a month, gone to many of the National Parks in the US and Canada, and traveled extensively in the United States. I have been to many of the islands and spend ten days a week at one of them or in Mazatlan where I have made many friends. I still want to visit Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom in Cambodia and visit Egypt.
I grow all my own organic vegetables and have about two hundred fruit trees of all kinds. I make all my own fruit and veggie juices and LOVE working on my land. Life is full of abundance and joy!
