Bobby's Story
Bob, a native of both Ocilla and Fitzgerald, Georgia where he attended school at Monitor (Grades 1st thru 4th), then Queensland (Grades 5th thru 9th) and Ocilla High and Industrial (Grades 10th thru 12th) from which he graduated in 1960 . Bob is the son of the late Raymond and Rose Anner Coney. He is married to the late Dorothy L. (Gaskin) Coney of Ocilla, Georgia. They have two sons (one deceased) a daughter by Bob's previous marriage to Carole (Pat) Farmer of Dayton Ohio, a grandson, and a great grand daughter.
After 29 years of federal service with the Army (civilian) and Navy (military) and 16 years of state and national railroad service with New Jersey Transit Rail Operations and AMTRAK, Bob is enjoying a life of leisure and travel.
Previously, Bob served as Chief of Equal Employment Opportunity for the U. S. Army's Aviation and Missile Command(AMCOM) located at Huntsville, Alabama. Prior to accepting an appointment at AMCOM, Bob held a similar position at the U. S. Army's Communications-Electronics Command (CECOM), Fort Monmouth, New Jersey. He has also held positions as Director, Workforce Planning with Amtrak, the National Railroad Passenger Corporation, and Manager/Director of Equal Employment Opportunity/ Affirmative Action and Diversity Programs with New Jersey Transit Corporation. Bob retired from the U. S. Navy as a Senior Chief Petty Officer upon completion of twenty years service in general administration as an Admiral's Executive Assistant and Writer and in human resources management as an Organizational Development Specialist and Equal Opportunity Specialist. He served with the Joint Staff's U. S. Delegation to the United Nations, two tours in the Pentagon with the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations in the Surface Warfare Directorate and the Plans and Policy Directorate. He served overseas tours with the Commander in Chief, U. S. Naval Forces, Europe in London England, the U.S. Southern Command's Middle East Force Command aboard the USS Dahlgren (DLG) and the USS Valcour (AGF-1) homeported in Manama, Baharain. He also served with the U. S. Naval Magazine, Rota, Spain and the U. S. Naval Communications Unit, Naples, Italy.
Bob has an Associate Degree in Government and Political Science from Pensacola Junior College, a Bachelors Degree in Business Management from the University of Maryland and a Masters Degree in Industrial Relations and Human Resources Management from Rutgers University.
