Bobby's Story

Hi Everyone, I really didn't get to know that many people in high school since I had a 2nd shift job at Nichol's Hosiery Mill which has since been torn down. I did enjoy the friends that I made while in high school. After graduation, I attended Presbyterian College in South Carolina, where I met the love of my life and wife of 46 years. After graduating from Presbyterian College, I was commissioned into the Field Artillery Branch of the Army and served 20 years, retiring as a lieutenant colonel. Overseas countries in include Germany 2 tours for a total of six years, Korea for 1 year, Panama and Honduras for 1 year. Kaye and I have two sons. Jon, the youngest, works in the video game industry and works remotely from home. Jon just took a new job in Miami but gets to stay in Texas. James, our oldest, is currently in Dubai. James spent 10 years in the Air Force and left to be an Air Force civilian contractor. After retiring from the Army, I taught school for 13 years. I retired for good in March 2011 a month before my 57th birthday. My joint pain from injuries in service just made it too difficult to stand up all day and teach. Kaye retired from teaching the next year in 2012. We have moved many times, everything has not been perfect, but we feel bl...Expand for more
essed for what we have. We moved to Texas from Florida because Jon asked us to be closer. Sadly, I have not done well the two winters here and being sick for over 2 months each winter just isn't any fun. We will be moving back to Florida next year; the estimated closing date for our house being built in Port St Lucie is July/August 2023. The retirement community is one of many 55+ retirement communities in Florida. I look forward to seeing friends from high school and swapping life stories. I will be in the area for a while as we will attend my aunt's 100th birthday party the following weekend in Marion. I sincerely hope that life has treated everyone well, that if you had bumps in the road that you navigated those bumps successfully and had an enjoyable life. I think that I weighed 145 in high school. In the Army weight lifting added weight, but joint pain and lack of exercise has added much more. My weight hangs around 260 now. I tell people that my baby is due in a few months. My goal is to simply enjoy life. Kaye had spinal surgery this past May, and is slowly improving. Kaye is now using a cane and uses the walker at night when she gets up. She continues to make progress.. Have a great life and just enjoy life. May God Bless all of you,
