Bobette's Story

Life --- Those that know me will smile when I say I've always been adventurous. Always wanted to live life to the fullest. I've moved a lot in 61 years. As an adult I moved 26 times in 25 years. Since I bought my house in 1991, I've planted pretty deep roots, but even then I moved out of state twice, once for school (Master's Degree) and once for a job. I've lived in California, Utah, Alaska, Colorado, Arizona and Idaho. My life took a sudden turn in 1993 when I was diagnosed with a terminal illness and given 2 to 5 years to live. I fooled them though and started on the best journey of my life. In the last 17 years I have graduated with a degree and master's degree in social work, found my lost son, have 8 grandchildren (oldest granddaughter is 23 and graduated from college in premed. I've learned to live and enjoy life one day at a time. I opened my own counseling business in 2007 my business closed and I'm still here! I guess you could say, "I have lived long and loved much." Please drop me a line, I'd love to hear from you! Help me, I've become a workaholic!!! Someone do an intervention... 2011 - Update: Medicaid quit paying me so I had to close my dream office. ut...now I have a new dream. Moving back to Alaska! Got a great job...newest great adventure. I'm being called back to Alaska. Closed my business in March due to Medicaid cuts. Going to work for the same hospital (Providence) I worked at before. 2012 - Life in Alaska is not as I remembered. It is very hard on an old body. When I'm done with my contract here I am relocating somewhere on a beach! No more snow! If I won $100 million, I'd give most of it to charity, then spend the rest on my children, set up accounts for my grandchildren and live on a beach somewhere. Actually, I would only visit the beach but I would do summers in Alaska and winter on a beach. If I had one do-over, I would have taken better care of my body if I knew I was going to live this long. The fact that I've been single since 1996 would surprise everyone at my high school reunion. My first job was at a circuit board company in Salt Lake City, where I got paid $1.00 per hour to touch up prints on hand drilled circuit boards. What I remember most about it is my hair color changed between the time they hired me and twice within a week afterward. I hope old friends remember that I had a kind heart.
