Bonita (Bonnie)'s Story
Life
I retired from education (36 years as an educator) in June '10. I've been a high school English teacher, journalism teacher, and after earning a master's degree at the University of South Florida in Tampa, have been a high school media specialist at Citrus HS (Yes, my school really is CITRUS HIGH!) in Inverness, FL for a number of years. I have been married to Michael Foisy, also a retired educator since 1984. In retirement I find fulfillment in mentoring at the Boys and Girls Club, in being active in Rotary (was President 2017-18), in being the educational coordinator for our local Friends of the Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge Complex, tutoring at a local recovery shelter/rescue mission, and working out, doing mild aerobics, toning, and yoga. ricanes, visited a few interesting places (followed the Inca Trail in Machu Picchu in Peru, touched Stonehenge, negotiated a $30 "Rolex" in NYC's Chinatown, etc.), and continue to want to see more and experience more! Regardless of my travels and experiences, I still love time spent at home (swimming laps, reading, walking in the woods, listening to nature's songs around me) and time spent re-connecting with my family in Batavia. My memories of high school and college are rich and wonderful. I attribute those great school experiences with the reason that I enjoyed my job so much. Kids change a bit in every generation, yet their needs (to be heard, to be respected) are no different from ours in the 60's and 70's! I welcome inquiries from anyone from those times from school!
