Bonnie's Story
OMG....my first job was working for the Selective Service System in Downey, CA. I registered 18 year olds to the draft board. I saw sooooo many of the guys I graduated with. But how times have changed and I wouldn't do that again. I had just gotten married and needed a JOB. In fact my hubs Dale, was drafted the same time and we spent our 1st anniversary at Ft. Ord. To all I registered I am sorry.....But working for the government in those days was NOT as bad as working for it today. I am a sp. ed. teacher today and LOVE it. I am STILL married to my high school sweetheart..(June 28, 1969) We married before he was sent to Viet Nam. Jeff our 1st born (10/07/72 and our daughter Karen (08/06/75. We are blessed with 5 wonderful grandkids....We have lived in Hoston since 1996. I get back as often as I can. But we don't miss the traffic and all the drama. It has changed sooo much since we were kids growing up there.
We moved to Houston cuz Dale is in the piping, valve and fitting in...Expand for more
dustry. I have worked for ABC Unified school dist. for 15 years in Cerritos, CA. Now in TX I am working for CCISD school district. (15 years and counting) I still love my job and get summers/holidays off which is perfect for traveling to CA. The hubs graduated from DOWNEY (boo) high school with Karen Carpenter (whom we both knew well) We knew them when they were with the Young Americans, BEFORE they were popular. My mom and Agnes (her mom) were good friends and went to her wedding. We could'nt as Dale was stationed at Ft. Ben Harrison...I was shy and quiet at Norwalk and had an awesome few good friends. I loved photography w/O'cane and German 1 & 2 with Frau Cow.( oops I forgot her name..I took shorthand/typing and did very good at it.... I am soo blessed to be happy, healthy (although turning 60 this year sucked) I don't feel 60 though...Can't wait to go to another reunion....I missed the last 2 or 3.....Love to all and be healthy and happy....Life is too short...Live it well....
