Bonnie's Story
Life
I live in San Ramon with my husband Len. He's been a computer guy since the early 60's when they had huge mainframe computers. Our blended family includes our oldest, a son who just graduated from U.C. Santa Cruz & starting Ph.D. program at Berkeley, a daughter who's a sophmore at Cal State Hayward, and our computer addicted son who's a high school junior. We also have 5 talking parrots to keep us sane.
My education and professional experiences led me to the wonderful career of a Chaplain. I am a Police Chaplain with the San Ramon Police Department. I also work with hospitals and answer calls to assist any person in need of emotional sup...Expand for more
port. A lot of my work deals with people suffering from life threatening diseases and other traumas related to crime, violence, and suicides. I work closely with families dealing with death, helping them plan funerals and memorials. I often officiate for families that do not have a local church/temple affiliation.
One of the happier aspects of being a Chaplain is doing community outreach. My outreach work currently includes using puppets, magic, and talking parrots to teach inner city kids relaxation skills. I also teach the kids other health education topics that specifically address the types of urban challenges they face on a daily bases.
